How to Build an AI Stylist App with Google AI Studio (No Coding)

By Beau Johnson··7 min read

Quick answer

I build Aura Check, an AI outfit-rating app, without writing code. I validate the idea in Idea Browser, bring it into Google AI Studio over MCP, add a custom styling prompt that runs on Nano Banana Pro, and use Firebase for Google sign-in and a synced history.

In this video I build a personal AI stylist app called Aura Check in about 30 minutes, without writing any code. You upload a full-body photo, and the app rates your outfit, breaks down what works and what doesn't, and suggests upgrades you can shop. It's for non-technical people who want to see the full process, from validating an idea to a working app with sign-in, using Idea Browser and Google AI Studio.

I recorded this in August 2026. These tools change quickly, so check the current docs if a screen or setting looks different from mine.

What I cover in this video

  • 0:00: The idea. Rate your outfit before you go out, earning money from a subscription plus affiliate links.
  • 2:18: Validating the idea with the Idea Agent in Idea Browser.
  • 5:22: The research scores and the "why now" market numbers.
  • 6:52: The "Build this idea" button and connecting Idea Browser over MCP.
  • 9:57: The custom styling prompt that powers the whole app.
  • 11:27: Adding Firebase for the database and authentication.
  • 16:02: The sign-in failure, and why strict database rules caused it.
  • 16:48: Running a real photo and getting the shoppable result.

Step 1: Prove the idea before you build

Before I built any of the app, I tested the concept in Nano Banana Pro. I uploaded a selfie with a styling prompt, and it came back with a solid report: color harmony, silhouette and proportions, fit and tailoring, textures and fabrics, accessories, occasion suitability, an overall impression, and a final verdict with tips to improve the outfit. Once I could see the output was useful, I knew the app was worth building.

Next I took the idea to the Idea Agent in Idea Browser (Home → Build ideas → Idea Agent). I described it as a web app that I'd wrap into a mobile app later. It's a personal stylist that rates your photo, checks which colors go together, and flags outdated looks, and it makes money from a monthly subscription plus affiliate links for suggested pieces. The first research brief came back in about 30 seconds. The full report took about 15 minutes. It scored feasibility, opportunity, and problem at 9 each. The "why now" section cited a market projected to grow from $171 million in 2025 to $3.8 billion by 2035.

Step 2: Bring the idea into Google AI Studio

Inside the build toolkit there's a Build this idea button. From there you can set up a connector to Claude, Cursor, or Gemini. It connects over MCP, so your idea, research, and PRD all come in as context. I also installed the Gemini CLI, but if you'd rather stay out of the terminal you can do everything inside Google AI Studio. Copy your API key, paste it in, and it pulls in your recent ideas and research.

I also gave it the "awesome design" markdown file from VoltAgent. It collects the design concepts, typography, and color palettes of 55 popular websites, which gives the model some direction for the landing page. The first version was too simple, so I asked for a full web app. I wanted a landing page, free sign-up with the first style analysis free, a dashboard, and Nano Banana Pro as the backend. I also asked for a flashy landing page that people who love fashion would enjoy.

Step 3: Inject the styling prompt and add Firebase

The custom styling prompt is the core of the product, and the app is a wrapper around it. I had Google help me write it. Here's the opening, as I read it in the video:

Analyze the outfit in this image in a detailed, nuanced way. Describe observable features such as overall silhouette, fit, proportions, color palette, texture, pattern mixing, accessories, and how well the pieces work together. Focus on what you can clearly see in the image and avoid guessing about brands or prices. Structure your response with clear sections and short subheadings with an overall outfit rating out of 10 and a one-sentence verdict that captures the general vibe. Then break down the outfit in depth.

It ends with constructive suggestions for what could be better, and that's where affiliate links fit. I told AI Studio to apply the prompt to the backend and to use Firebase for the database and authentication. It added Google sign-in, used React Markdown so the output renders cleanly, and built a history archive synced with Firebase. I also had it confirm that Nano Banana Pro was the model being used.

Then I asked for a full redesign with lots of motion in the hero section and a catchier, more Gen Z name. "The Stylist" became Aura Check. The first redesign had a broken hero photo and text I couldn't read. After a bit of back and forth it looked much better.

Step 4: Fix sign-in and run a real photo

Google sign-in didn't work at first. When I asked about it, AI Studio said the login was failing silently because strict database security rules were rejecting the format. After it fixed that, I logged in, uploaded a photo of an outfit I didn't love, and got a rating, a full breakdown, and shoppable upgrade suggestions (chino shorts, in my case). That's normal when you build with AI: you hit a problem, you work through it with the model, and you keep going.

For pricing, the first analysis is free, and after that it's $9.99 a month for 30 style assessments. For payments you could use Stripe, Polar, RevenueCat, or Superwall. Later on, a plugin called Capacitor can wrap the web app so you can launch it on the App Store and Play Store. If you're new to this way of building, my Build an App with AI guide covers more.

Key takeaways

  • Prove the idea first. I ran the concept through Nano Banana Pro before building anything.
  • The custom prompt is the product, and the app is the wrapper around it.
  • Connecting Idea Browser over MCP sends your idea, research, and PRD to the build tool as context.
  • If sign-in fails silently, check your database security rules. That was the cause here.
  • Know your avatar before you design. An app for 25-year-olds shouldn't look like one for 45-to-75-year-olds.

FAQ

Can I build an AI app in Google AI Studio without coding?

Yes. In this video I build a working AI stylist app in Google AI Studio by describing what I want in plain language. AI Studio adds Firebase sign-in, a dashboard, and a synced history for me.

What model rates the outfits in the AI stylist app?

Nano Banana Pro runs the analysis, using a custom styling prompt I injected into the backend. The prompt asks for a rating out of 10, a one-sentence verdict, and a detailed breakdown of silhouette, fit, color, texture, and accessories.

Why did Firebase Google sign-in fail in Google AI Studio?

In my build, sign-in failed silently because strict database security rules were rejecting the format. Once AI Studio fixed that, I could log in and reach the dashboard.

How do you connect Idea Browser to Google AI Studio?

Use the "Build this idea" button in Idea Browser's build toolkit to set up a connector over MCP. Then paste your API key into Google AI Studio, and it pulls in your idea, research, and PRD.

0:00I got a 6.0. That's terrible. Oh my goodness, the fact that this works just within 30 minutes of building it is pretty cool. And this is something that you could use by yourself. And you're going to want to stick around to the end of the video to see exactly how we build this personal AI stylist from scratch using two tools. Entire app out is going to be Google AI Studio and Idea Browser for validating our idea. So, my whole thought process is we are going to be building an AI styling app. I've been playing around a little bit with Nano Banana Pro and I've been able to get some really nice style aesthetics and style reports for people who just take a selfie, take a picture of yourself just

0:45like this. And maybe you're not so good at styling yourself. Well, this app is going to be for you because I'm not a super good stylist. I don't know what I'm doing. So, I just tested it here and we're going to add in a prompt on the back end and also to be able to monetize it, we're going to provide a monthly subscription, but also provide suggestions via affiliate links to suggest to people to add on to their outfit to be able to style it better. So, you can see here simple. It's going to give back some feedback. It's going to rate your outfit. It's going to say, you know, what colors are matching, what colors go well together, what to avoid, and how to, you know, style it even further. So, this is a service that people pay thousands of dollars a month for and we're going to provide it for just $10 a month. So, um we're going to

1:31that's the essence of what we're going to build. People can just take a picture of themselves before they go out looking like a mess and they're going to be able to get a report back to see if that's a good matching pattern, what is going on, too crazy, too many too much jewelry, whatever. You get the essence of it. So, here is the photo of me. You know, it gives an idea of texture and fabrics, accessory and details, occasion suitability, impressions, style vibe, color harmony, silhouette proportions, fit and tailoring, style breakdown, and then it's going to give you some final verdicts and suggestions on how you can elevate the fit. So, we're going to take that idea and then we're going to plug it into Idea Browser. First thing we're going to do is we're going to the Idea Agent. So, when you go into Idea Browser, it's just right at the top here. You're going to go to home and

2:18you're going to go to build ideas and then go Idea Agent. So, you can discover your founder archetype, meet your business coach, and get your playbook. We're going to use the prompt here and we're going to just ideate on the idea I just presented to you. I want to build a web app that we can wrap into a mobile app down the road, but let's start with a web app first. It is a personal assistant stylist. You take a photo, it uploads it to the app, and then it rates your style. It checks what colors go well together. It verifies it that you're dressing according to the trend and not outdated. We're helping become a personal stylist with AI and we're going to provide a monthly subscription and we're also going to help people build their outfits by providing affiliate

3:04links for suggestions to elevate their style. Let's just go with that prompt and go from there. And it's going to validate this idea, check Reddit, check online sources to see if this is even worth building. I think it is. All right, that took like 30 seconds. Came came back with a research brief. AI personal stylist web app. This SaaS product is a web app that acts as a personal stylist using AI. User uploads their outfits, the app rates their style, checks for the trend alignment, and suggests improvements. Very cool. Key challenges are ensuring accurate style assessments, building a robust affiliate network. Related angles are AI-driven fashion advice, virtual road wardrobe management. Very cool. Let's go. Let's generate the report. Let's start the research process. So, it's going to do market analysis, deep dive into market opportunities, gaps, and

3:50potential positioning, community insights. is going to do analysis of online communities, discussions, and user sentiment, strategic recommendations, actionable insights, and execution go-to-market strategy and challenges. So, if you've ever gone onto Instagram, there is a ton of personal stylists on there that basically just do somewhat the same thing. These are actually real people. They rate outfits, and then they provide affiliate links to those outfits to help people dress better. So, essentially, we're just doing this with AI, and I'm sure you can create an AI avatar around this, but that's a story for another episode. We're just going to lay the foundation. So, I'm excited about this. I built this for myself, and that's why we're building it. I just think it's a good idea. I think people should dress their best when they can, and let's build it. All right, research complete. That took

4:36about 15 minutes, not too bad. So, let's take a look at the full report. Style rating app that analyzes outfit photos and suggests upgrades with affiliate links. 2 million plus ARR. Getting dressed shouldn't feel like a guessing game. Style check is a web app that rates your outfit in seconds and tells you exactly what works, what doesn't, and how to level up. Upload a photo of what you're wearing, the AI breaks down the color harmony, alignment, and overall vibe. It spots when you're rocking outdated stilettos. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Wow, look at Look at that. Oh my goodness. That's just the keyword for trendy clothes for women. Obviously, that's going to be good, but fashion trends, obviously. All right. All right, let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Oh my goodness, look at this. Man, Idea Browser is being nice. 9 9 9 9. Feasibility 9, opportunity 9, problem 9,

5:22and why now? Perfect timing. This is great. I mean, even I could see making a couple thousand dollars a month making this. So, why now? An AI personal stylist web app is poised for success with a market projected to grow from 171 million in 2025 to 3.8 billion by 2035. That is crazy. By a 36% compounded annual growth rate, enhanced AI advancements, and the surge of online shopping, this is the ideal moment to capitalize on personalized fascist trends. The cool thing here is Nano Banana Pro is really good with text and really good just overall to be able to provide this feedback back to people after they upload a photo. And I'll get into the prompt that we're going to send

6:07with this on the back end, but yeah, so I'm excited. Let's get building this. Like I said, we're going to use Idea browser in combination with Google AI Studio. We're also going to add in another thing called awesome design, if I could spell, markdown file by Volt Agent. This just takes 55 of the top most popular websites and takes their concepts, typography, color palette, and gives the LLM, which we're going to use Google Pro preview, to be able to give it some direction on how it's going to craft our landing page and the overall aesthetic. So, we're going to just copy that as well. Here we're going to go into the build toolkit for this, and then we're going to get the prompt. See here,

6:52there's a little build this idea button. My face was covering it, so I couldn't find it. So, build this idea. I could build it and pull it right into their Idea Build Builder or the AI workspace. So, basically, we're going to go into the workspace. I can connect it with Claude, Cursor, Gemini. So, that's going to be amazing. We just click set up connector, connect now. We're going to go into Claude Gemini CLI, run this in your terminal, and it's going to connect via MCP. That is amazing. Boom, go into Google AI Studio, copy paste, hit enter, and it's going to start cooking. It's going to pull in all the relevant info, which is amazing. It is amazing. It is amazing time to be alive if you like building apps and making money. Come on now. The The playing field has never been lower. Like, there's no excuse to

7:38not be building stuff, even if it's personal. Like, this is something I built for myself. Now it's something we can actually monetize and create and sell it to other people. It solves a problem. So here we go. We're connecting via MCP your ideas, research, and agents, and Claude cursor, and more. Everything you do in Idea browser, you can do it from the AI tools you already use. So whether you are whatever. Um uh-oh, there's my API key. Oh my. Going to have to blur that out, right? Okay, so boom, I could just copy that. Pick your AI tool. We already did that. That's pretty cool. All right, let's see what it did. Here is I'd like to use Google AI Studio, but we could use Gemini uh CLI if need be. Okay, so I also downloaded the Gemini CLI while we

8:23were waiting, but you can just do it inside of Google AI Studio. If you are super non-technical and you don't want to get into the terminal, you can just do it in here. You just copy your API key and it's going to pull in your recent um analysis of ideas, pull in all of the idea builder, the research, the PRD, everything already in here. That is pretty impressive and you could see here it's just built this simple stylist outfit analyzer. So that's pretty cool. I had just popped it up here, by the way. I I do want to give it this markdown file and talk with it a bit more. Okay, so I want to build out a full web app. I want a landing page. I want people to be able to sign up for free and get their first style guide analysis on us. So after they get their

9:10first one, then they have to pay. So we would need to create a dashboard as well. And we're going to be using Nano Banana Pro as the back end. I will give you the prompt that will make and enable this whole thing to run. That will assess the person's outfit and then it will give them all of the suggestions on a nice little PDF or or fit photo that we would deliver like via PDF uh, to their email or just show it in their dashboard. Use this awesome design markdown file from this GitHub repo as principles to guide you as you build the landing page. I want it to be flashy and aesthetically pleasing. Somewhere where a person that really loves fashion would love the website. Then, drop that in. Very cool. And, I'll just show the prompt that I had a Google kind of help

9:57me generate. I just said that, you know, I wanted a prompt that I could feed into a personal stylist app, you know, providing color scheme, trending, you know, wardrobe, um, suggestions for the outfit based on, you know, back to data that was available through Reddit, Instagram, TikTok. And, this is what I came up with. So, analyze the outfit in this image in a detailed nuanced way. Describe observable features such as overall silhouette, fit, proportions, color palette, texture, pattern mixing, accessories, and how all well the pieces work together. Focus on what you can clearly see in the image and avoid guessing about brands or prices. Structure your response with clear sections and short subheadings with an

10:42overall outfit rating of 10 and one sentence verdict that captures the general vibe. Then, break down the outfit in depth. So, it goes over everything. And then, what could even be better, you know, it's going to be constructive and add you suggestions. And, that's where we could provide affiliate links to add to current wardrobes, you know? So, that's going to be like the backbone of this whole app. Ooh, it's looking good. We need to We need to get this thing going now. So, so you can always pop open the share screen and we want to put public and then we want to default to full screen. I'm going to go back and actually give it this prompt. This is the prompt that is going to be the foundation of our app. This is what judges the outfits. Please apply this to the back end. Also, we probably need to use Firebase for our

11:27database and authentication. Then, we can check it out. Copy link. Let's pop it open. Let's take a look. We can always change the style of the landing page. But I think it did a good job on the first try. So, we're going to allow camera access. Obviously, it's my I mean, I need to actually upload a photo of my full body, you know, to be able to judge the outfit. So, um AI styling engine 1.0, the stylist. Upload your fit, get ruthless AI feedback, upgrade your wardrobe with curated pieces. Your first analysis on us, start here. Elevate your aura, upload photo, brutally honest ratings, shoppable upgrades. Ooh. Stop guessing, join thousands getting daily style checks. Your first fit is analyzed entirely on us. Beautiful. Very simple. We may We may change up this I mean, we we want it

12:13to be simple. We don't want to confuse the customer, right? The stylist. Hmm, maybe even [clears throat] change the name, but we'll go from there. Well, okay. So, enabling Firebase, that's going to create the database for us, which is really nice. Very simple. Connects right into Google AI Studio. I have completely restructured the application into a full web app according to your request, applying the high-end editorial and dark luxury design principles to create a highly aesthetic flashy experience perfect for fashion enthusiasts. Very cool, very cool. And the main idea, too, is to turn this into a um mobile app, right? Because obviously, everyone's on their phones, and that would just be We could make it like a a PWA, but really, who uses those? We want to be able to launch on the App Store to be able to, you know, provide that as a service. You can use a plugin called Capacitor to take

13:00your web app and wrap it, and then be able to launch it into a actual like, you know, the Play Store or the App Store for mobile use, which would be the whole idea, the step after this. So, pretty cool. All right. So, it implemented the entire back end and analytical structure you requested. Here's the breakdown. It integrated Firebase with Google authentication. It updated to detailed output scheme. I injected your detailed evaluation instructions directly into the back-end AI prompt and integrated React markdown to ensure headings, lists, formatting paragraphs, and style render beautifully with your custom editorial theme. Optimized authentication flow and historical historical archive update. The archive is now functional and synced

13:45with Firebase. Anytime you use the app, all past looks you previously requested will correctly be listed inside Oh, that's a good one. Cool. Okay, so let me know if you'd like to adjust the styling or new feedback or tune the AI prompt. Just making sure that Nano Banana Pro is being used as the image model. This is important. Okay, cool. So, I have updated the back-end to use Nano Banana Pro model for image generation as you requested. The dashboard will now rely precisely on that model for the output evaluations. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to adjust. Cool. I think I'd like to see a different version of the landing page. Can you come completely change the style and coloring and aesthetics of the landing page using the GitHub repository Awesome

14:31design that I had suggested? I would just like to see a different style. Um also, I don't know, the name The stylist. I don't know if that could be something catchier. Can you come up with a couple different names? Something catchier, something more modern, more Gen Z-ish. Um yeah, I just want to see what you do. Add more motion to the page, too. I want the hero section to be going crazy with motion. All right, so here is the redesign. Let's check it out. So, aura check. There we go. That's a broken photo right there, but it's okay. This is just one shot. AI vibe analysis engine 2.0. Fit check. No mercy. Chest drip. Okay. Can't see any text. Going to need to go fix that. Okay, so it seemed to got a little better. Don't know what was going on exactly, but sometimes you just got to

15:16have a little back and forth. Aura check. AI vibe analysis engine. Drop a fit. Get ruthlessly roasted. Upgrade your drip. Okay, here we go. Things are moving, too. I like that. Max out your aura, upload any photo, brutally honest, shoppable upgrades. This is This is much better. This is much better. I like this. You got to know who your customer is, right? Very cool. Stop guessing, your first fit is analyzed entirely on us. I love the colors. I like it because it's scroll stroll you're going to stop the scroll. Like, people are going to come to this landing page, it doesn't look AI-generated and to me, I think to be able to stand out and take your, you know, presentation of your web app or your mobile app, just to put in those little details really does go a long

16:02way. So, you may need to go back and forth several times ideating with the LLM and choosing what's going to work for you. So, I think that this works really good. Now, let's see if we can just log in. So, Google authentication. Okay, we'll need to go back. I was not able to log in. Is the dashboard built out? Am I able to upload a photo of myself to get my first style analysis? Okay, it said the login issues was silently failing because the strict database security rules were rejecting the format, which is fine. You can now successfully log in and access the dashboard. First style analysis, yes, the dashboard is fully built out. You can upload an image and it will analyze your vibe. Cool, cool. Landing page, cool. Okay, awesome. And that's how

16:48building with AI is. You know, if you're just getting into this, you're going to need to go back and forth and that's the cycle of you're going to run into problems, you just need to figure out how to solve them. And with superintelligence at your fingertips, you're able to do it. Don't give up. Okay, so let's log in. Like I said, there's our landing page. Okay, so let's So, I logged in, I was able to go to my dashboard. Okay, upload your next fit. Let me get a picture of myself wearing something terrible from last year. All right, so we're just going to take the picture of myself again, which was where in recents and upload that. Oh my, let's get the verdict. Analyzing aura, running parameters. Okay, see how long this takes. A comfortable earthy tone casual look that has a good foundational piece

17:33but needs fit and proportion adjustments to elevate the overall polish. Stylist breakdown, overall verdict, a relaxed utilitarian weekend look that prioritizes comfort and benefit the few structural cheat cheeks. I have to say that's pretty cool. Comes up with your overall breakdown impressions, style vibe, color harmony, silhouette proportions, fit and tailoring, textures and fabrics, accessories and details, occasion suitability. I mean, it it's pretty in-depth and with the final verdict. And I this is the whole monetization strategy is to put in the affiliate links that we can link to, you know, expensive upgrades, you know, clothes in general is like insane now. It's like $88 for a shirt from Lululemon, you know, for example. But, you know, you could shop the item, you

18:19know, and that's pretty cool that we can, you know, suggest to elevate their, you know, wardrobe with just a click of the button. I mean, that's really nice. Oh, and it actually works. That's pretty cool. That is pretty cool. So, you're able to chino shorts. That's awesome. All right, cool. So, so that's cool and one other thing we're missing is that we are missing a subscription. So, they get their first style assessment on us for free. After that, it's $9.99 a month and they get 30 style assessments. We also want to make sure that the when we help them upgrade and shop for upgrades for their outfit that it

19:04provides the affiliate link for the item. But, that's something we could build into it later because that's a monetization strategy for us as well. >> That's awesome. So, going back, you know, it's very simple dashboard. Obviously, you would tweak things here and there, but just the fact that it works like on basically the first go round, it's pretty impressive. Um like obviously the landing page can be tweaked, but I'm pretty happy with this. Obviously, it's all going back to like who is your product for? You know, if we're targeting older people that have no style, you know, like 45 to maybe 75, maybe it obviously wouldn't look like this, you know? So, just like keeping your avatar in mind and who it's for is going to directly impact how your web

19:50your whole website and how your whole app works, right? So, very cool. Oracheck, it works. It uses Nano Banana Pro on the back end using that prompt that we gave it. And obviously, we can go back and forth and play around with it. So, it's going to add the subscription price to it as well and we'd be able to set up Stripe or Polar Payments or Revenue Cat or Superwall or whatever you'd want to use for payments to be able to accept, but that is pretty cool and you know, just to be able to be in the best time to be alive to build businesses, it's this is incredible. There's no excuse to not build something that you're passionate about even if it's like an app like this which over the weekend I wanted just a personal stylist guide, but I wasn't going to go pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to get my wardrobe styled for me. I'd

20:36rather just have AI do it and build it myself. And it does a good job. >> So, if you're looking to do something similar, why not get started? So, I'll put the links to Idea Browser down below. Check it out. Start building. Easy to connect. We'll see you in the next one. Have a blessed day.
